Boweld have recently supplied specially dimensioned Taperlite bodies to Evesham based Jet Plant for use in their road planning operations.
Jet Plant specialise in road planing and run a fleet of 18 trucks, 21 planing machines plus JCB’s, mini diggers, dumpers etc and employ 80 staff out of their Evesham (Worcester) and Newton Abbot (Devon) operations.
They have just purchased two new Volvo 6 X 4 FMX’s and these have been fitted with specially built Boweld Taperlite bodies designed to optimise them for road planing duties.
A key requirement was to allow the conveyor of a road planer to pass over the back posts of the body.
Because of the air suspension option the chassis was also fitted with a special sub frame designed and built by Boweld. Constructed to meet Volvo body builder guidelines the sub frame was constructed out of 650 high yield steel and of a bolt together design following the same principles as Boweld’s concept sub frame.
The bodies are fitted with the Boweld’s bolt on Proguard cab shield sheet storage system to protect the sheet, sheet collect roller and drive motor, and Procover sheet system with aspecial spring arrangement in the mudguard spats. The Proguard cab guard gives the driver a good vision into the load space of the body.
Additional items supplied included aluminium toolboxes and fuel tank protector covers, low barn doors with a centre over cam locking device and greaseable hinges. Bolt on mudguard kits and aluminium mudguard spat caps were also added.
Taperlites were specially selected by Jet Plant as they would deliver the maximum possible payload on a truck where the specification included a lot of other heavy equipment such as a VBG draw bar coupling and of course the sub frame.
